These questions are debatable and many people have done just that, they rent themselves in an area they want to live in, or close to work, whilst purchasing investment properties in the same area or around the state or other states where there is better capital growth and good rental return.
But for many Australian’s they like to have the great Australian Dream and live and own their own property, but many investors will tell you, it is more cost effective and financially better to rent and own other properties.
There are definitely positives and negatives to both sides. Some people like to own their own property and do whatever they want to it, others who work takes them to different areas and different states, could be better off renting and purchasing other investment properties. It depends what your future goal is, if you want to acquire a large property portfolio or happy to have your own property and utilise your money in other areas, it comes down to personal choice.
